Summary:

FOCUS Connect is recruiting Disability Support Workers for its NDIS disability services in community access and in-home supports. You will be involved in a growing quality service that provides NDIS support services to people with a disability in the Macarthur and South West Sydney region.


Please note: Our Disability Services are delivered on a 24/7 roster model which includes weekend and public holiday shifts. These positions are to provide in-home domestic assistance, personal care and supporting community access.


About you:

We are seeking experienced disability support workers who have qualifications in disability services and/or experience as a carer of a person with a disability. Successful candidates to have cleared National Criminal History Record and Working with Children Check.


Moreover, we are looking for people who are passionate about delivering person-centred services, are flexible, caring and have good interpersonal skills. You will have opportunities to learn and evolve as part of a growing and vibrant organisation.


Responsibilities:

  • Provide emotional and physical support to individuals in need
  • Assist with daily living activities, such as bathing, dressing, and grooming
  • Help individuals with meal preparation and feeding
  • Administer medication as directed by healthcare professionals
  • Accompany individuals to appointments and activities
  • Maintain accurate records of services provided
  • Communicate effectively with individuals, families, and healthcare professionals
  • Monitor and report any changes in an individual's condition
  • Provide a safe and comfortable environment for individuals
  • Group facilitating

FOCUS Connect (formally known as Macarthur Diversity Services Initiative) is a registered, not-for-profit charity that offers practical help and support services to the disadvantaged and marginalised. Focus Connect seeks to ensure that our organisation and our services are relevant and accessible. Based on an integrated service delivery system Focus Connect's programs are specifically tailored through five broad service areas: children, youth, family, aged and disability.

All candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • Current and valid Working With Children Check clearance (or willing to obtain)
  • Current and valid full Driver’s Licence and access to a comprehensively insured vehicle
  • Current and valid First Aid Certificate (or willing to obtain)
  • Cleared National Criminal History check (or willing to obtain)
  • OR current and cleared NDIS Worker Check
  • Experience working within Aged Care or Disability Services
  • Ability to work within a team and also autonomously
  • Working rights in Australia
  • Smartphone to access rostering application
  • Compassionate and patient demeanour

Essential Criteria

  • Experience working with complex and challenging behaviours.
  • Certificate in Community Welfare/Disability/Individual services, or similar.
  • Current Senior First Aid Certificate.
  • Current unrestricted Driver Licence and access to a reliable fully insured vehicle.
  • A commitment to supporting and promoting the individual needs, skills, abilities and personal goals of individuals living with a disability.
  • The ability to develop a positive relationships with participants and to support their personal goals.
  • Good communication skills, including ability to build rapport, effective listening and empathy.
  • The ability to maintain privacy and confidentiality.
  • Problem solving and conflict management skills.
  • Demonstrated reliability, flexibility and a positive attitude.

Desirable Criteria:

  • Fluent in either of the following languages; Spanish, Chinese, Vietnamese, Arabic.
  • MR licence and ability to drive a bus
