The Home Interaction Program for Parents and Youngsters (HIPPY) is a free multicultural home-based program designed to prepare children for school by building parents' skills and confidence. HIPPY supports parents in delivering a structured 60-week curriculum to children around 3 years old, fostering a love of learning that lasts a lifetime.
The HIPPY program is designed to be accessible and adaptable for all families.
Our program welcomes families from diverse backgrounds, including varying educational levels, income, language, culture, family structures and literacy levels. Although we have a priority of access, all families in the Campbelltown LGA are eligible to enroll.
Fortnightly group gatherings are aimed to connect families with local services, offer workshops on various topics, and provide a platform for parents to connect with each other. This is particularly beneficial for parents who may feel isolated or lack community connections.
With only 35 available spots per year, once a family enrolls, their place cannot be given to another family if they decide not to continue.
The Home Interaction Program for Parents and Youngsters (HIPPY) is a dynamic, cost-free, home-based early learning and parenting initiative designed to seamlessly integrate into the daily lives of families with young children in the pre-school years. The program engages families for approximately 10 to 15 minutes each weekday, offering fun, educational activities aligned with the Early Years Learning Framework and the Australian Curriculum.
Through HIPPY, parents become active contributors to their children's education, fostering a love for learning and school readiness.
HIPPY provides families with engaging activity packs, storybooks, and materials, encouraging children to explore, ask questions and build confidence. The program supports parents in shaping their child's learning experiences based on strengths and interests, extending the educational journey into everyday situations—a concept termed 'Everywhere Learning.' Tutors offer one-on-one support during regular visits and group meetings, fostering a positive 'have-a-go' attitude.
